01 / Cape Town

Google Ads management for Cape Town businesses.

We build and run Google Ads accounts as a profit engine, not a cost. We're not down the road in Claremont and we won't pretend to be - we work over video, in your timezone, and if your campaigns don't deliver, you don't pay our management fee.

02 / Benchmarks

What Cape Town businesses pay per click.

Before you commit a budget, you should know what a click costs in your market. We sampled Cape Town search terms across the industries that carry the city's economy - hospitality, trades, professional services, e-commerce - using Ahrefs' modelled cost-per-click data.

Ahrefs modelled CPC for Cape Town search terms, sampled July 2026. Same conversion basis as our national benchmarks.

hotels in cape town4 500R4.19

Two things stand out. Cape Town's tourism terms are cheap for their volume - "hotels in cape town" draws about 4 500 searches a month at R4.19 a click, one of the best volume-to-cost ratios we've measured in South Africa. And the trades are expensive: a plumber pays more than five times what a hotel does for a click, because every competitor is bidding on the same emergency intent.

National benchmarks by industry, plus how VAT and management fees stack on top, are in our Google Ads cost guide.

03 / Adoption map

Where Cape Town's suburbs search and advertise.

Nobody publishes suburb-level Google Ads data, so we built a proxy from what people actually type: 48 suburb-modified search terms - six service categories across eight suburbs. Dot area is the sampled monthly search demand; colour is the category that leads each suburb's searches.

Google Ads adoption map of Cape Town suburbsSchematic map of the Cape Town peninsula. Circles mark eight suburbs, sized by sampled monthly search demand and coloured by leading category. Somerset West, Durbanville and Bellville in the north and east carry the most demand, led by dentists. Sea Point and Claremont are led by gyms, Hout Bay by plumbers. 48 suburb-modified search terms (6 service categories × 8 suburbs), Ahrefs, sampled July 2026. Dot area is proportional to sampled searches a month. A search-demand view: suburbs show where customers search, not where advertisers have offices.

Three readings. First, suburb-level demand lives in the north and east: Somerset West (1 090 sampled searches a month), Durbanville (920) and Bellville (510) all out-search Sea Point (420). Second, the clusters differ - dentists and health practices dominate the northern suburbs, gyms lead Sea Point and Claremont, and Hout Bay's searches skew to the trades. Third, competition is thin: in Ahrefs' latest result-page snapshots of all 48 terms, not one showed a paid ad at the top of the page, and in Milnerton and Constantia most terms have too little ad history to model a cost per click at all.

The practical takeaway: advertisers bid on "cape town" terms and largely ignore the suburb layer beneath them. A plumber pays R15.08 to R23.45 a click on suburb terms that almost nobody else is contesting - suburb-modified keywords and matching landing pages are the cheapest targeting refinement in this market.

Ad activity = terms (of 6 sampled) where Ahrefs has observed enough ad clicks to model a CPC. Constantia's sample is too thin for a meaningful median.

04 / Income

Where the money lives.

Demand tells you where people search. Income tells you where a click is most likely to become a profitable customer. This layer shades each suburb's real census boundary by the share of households earning R25 601 or more a month - the darker the suburb, the wealthier it is. Hover or tab onto a suburb for the detail.

Constantia is darkest at 57.9%, then Milnerton at 46.7% and Durbanville at 43.3%. Bellville is lightest at 26.6%. Stats SA Census 2011, via the City of Cape Town's census suburb profiles - share of households by monthly income band. Boundaries are the real census-suburb footprints (Stats SA sub-places, dissolved per the City's composition lists). 2011 is the latest suburb-level income release, so read it as a relative ranking rather than current rands; the Atlantic Seaboard in particular has moved upmarket since.

So where are the most profitable customers?

Cross-reference the two maps and four reads fall out:

a

Constantia. The richest suburb on the map (57.9% of households above R25 600 a month) with almost no suburb-level search or ad activity. Low volume, but every click is premium - own the handful of "service + constantia" terms and you own the pocket.

b

Milnerton. Second-highest income share at 46.7%, yet ad activity on only 3 of 6 sampled terms. Underserved affluence - the best opportunity-per-rand on this page.

c

Durbanville. Affluent (43.3%) with the deepest demand and the fullest ad coverage. The contested prize - budget for the R6.70 median, and win on ad relevance rather than bid alone.

d

Bellville. The cheapest clicks (R2.51 median) but the lowest high-income share (26.6%). A volume play - the economics work when your offer converts at scale, not on premium pricing.

07 / Answers

Frequently asked questions.

Do you have an office in Cape Town?
No, and we won't pretend to. We work remotely with clients across South Africa and the UK, and meet over video. You get a specialist's full attention without paying for a Bree Street lease.
What does Google Ads cost in Cape Town?
Clicks in Cape Town range from about R3.35 for a dermatologist to R25.13 for a moving company - see the benchmarks on this page. Most businesses should plan for R10,000 to R15,000 a month in total once media spend, 15% VAT and management fees are combined.
Is my budget big enough for Google Ads?
For competitive service categories we recommend a minimum of R15,000 a month. Below that there are still options - manual bidding, exact match keywords, a single tightly-targeted location - but growth is slower. The audit will tell you honestly whether Google Ads is worth it at your budget.
Which Cape Town industries do you work with?
Mostly e-commerce and B2B services. Cape Town's economy skews tourism, hospitality, e-commerce and professional services - auction types we know well. We don't take on businesses where we can't see a path to profitable spend.
Do you also serve businesses outside Cape Town?
Yes - we work with clients across South Africa and the United Kingdom. Cape Town businesses get the same process as everyone else: audit first, fixed fee, fees guaranteed.
